Whats up 9-22-08 for the Kenyons? The kids are getting bigger!

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was the kids Sports Festival, but we had a rain cancellation. There were actually strong thunderstorms, so it is a good thing we didn’t have it. We ended up going to the video store and watched some movies in the morning, then we ate our lunch and relaxed a bit.

In the afternoon it cleared up a bit, and we went to the beach and played in the waves. Joe and Miyabi had a lot of fun, and did not want to get out of the water after more than an hour or so. The swimming school has really helped their swimming confidence, and they put their heads under the water and everything. They were both a little surprised by the difference of taste of the salt water, but that is the usual learning experience. I think this will really help them to keep those mouths closed. lol!!!! That will do the trick. Joe especially was doing great. It is nice to see how he is growing up. He has always been very cautious, but he is really becoming more confident in himself. When we were in the waves, he was telling me to let go of his hand, and that he was okay. “I can do it daddy. I’m okay daddy. Watch me put my face under the water daddy.” He is getting to be a big boy now. We are trying to give him a little more room to make his own way, and he is doing great. What a difference from 5 to 6 years old. We still have to remind him he’s not 16 yet, especially when he requests a cell phone for his birthday, or asks when he can have his own room or start driving…. Actually, since he has turned 6, he has started to take a shower by himself now and then. Boy he is getting big.

Now that I think about it, Miyabi has started into that 4 year old testing stage. She wants to fight most everything, and wants to have everything her way. She is so cute when she starts screaming about how nobody loves her… funny for 10 seconds, then not to funny, as she is sent to the corner. Joe used to go to that corner a lot, but it is becoming more and more a Miyabi thing. I am sure that next year Miyabi will turn it over to Hanano, since she is getting into hitting her big brother and sister now. Life is sooooooo exciting in our house these days.

The alternate day for the Sports Festival is tomorrow, Tuesday the 23rd. The kids are looking forward to it, and the weather should be nice and sunny. We will take some pictures and try to post them after we get home in the afternoon.

Hope you are well, and talk to you soon,

Steve, Shiho and the kids
